Prisoners in two Sydney jails will be given tablet computers to use in their cells in a trial to reduce reoffending rates. More than 600 tablets will be given to men and women in two separate prisons as part of a $1.5 million program to give prisoners the opportunity for self-rehabilitation.
The computers would operate through a secure network and give inmates access to literacy and numeracy sessions, cognitive behavioural therapy and access to their prison bank accounts.
