Proposed changes to the national anthem are 'perfectly reasonable'

Proposed changes to the national anthem are 'perfectly reasonable' Sky News host Alan Jones says proposed changes to the national anthem are “perfectly reasonable”.

Olympic Gold Medalist Cathy Freeman has come out in support of the Recognition in Anthem Project, which argues the current anthem "doesn't acknowledge Indigenous existence in Australia”.

The Recognition in Anthem Project - founded by former Victorian Supreme Court judge Peter Vickery QC - launched its proposal for an updated version of Advance Australia Fair.

In Advance Australia Fair 2.0, the "inappropriate and now outmoded word, young" would be replaced to read 'Australians all let us rejoice, for we are one and free'.

The project presents further changes to the anthem in verses two and three.

“You would have to be a bit of a ratbag to say that’s worth dying in a ditch for,” Mr Jones said.
