Karama Organization in implementing a food security and women's empowerment program in all refugee camps of the southern West Bank, supported by the European Union. Refugee women are equipped with rooftop greenhouses, agricultural training, home visits and support, to no only produce on their own roofs, but also form women collectives for empowerment, advocacy and collective enterpreneurship. The fresh, organic production from the roofs (women choose a range of vegetables and herbs) can be used in their households, or sold through the project. The rooftop greenhouses form the basis of many enterpreneurial ideas; such as a community bakery, a food production line and herbal products. Watch our first documented succes story about the personal growth Neama experienced while participating in the project.
