Some of the old trading books had a trend trading methodology like the turtle traders for instance. They would look for strong trends and ride those trends for months and months. I would argue that the markets are different these days. Many traders that I talk to say that they've read a book that advocated trend trading but its not working for them. The problem these days is that many trending markets experience big shakeouts at some point. So does a trend trading strategy really work? What are the profitable strategies for successful share market trading? Is trend trading or counter-trend trading more profitable? What about mean reversion?
