The class action brought against John Christner Trucking has been certified. This means that it can go forward drivers who leased are part of the class. The drivers claim that they were in fact employees of John Christner Trucking and should have been paid as such but were misclassified as independent contractors. Some drivers claimed to work 100 hours a week and still have a negative paycheck. We talked about this in an earlier video when it was first brought. Today, we get the update. The problem really is this: Who leases a truck, gets paid a dollar a mile and expects to make any money? I don't know about this case but I do think that many of these lease programs where you get your truck from the company are really just glorified company drivers who are paying for the truck instead of getting benefits. I would like to see them ended. It is a good way for the companies to get someone else to make their truck payments, though. I will stay on top of this John Christner lease purchase case to see what becomes of it. What do you think of the pay at JCT? Is the lease purchase a good deal and are you really an independent contractor? TruckingAnswersNation.com/blog
