(6 Feb 2020) FLOWERS PLACED AT WALK OF FAME STAR OF LATE ACTOR KIRK DOUGLAS A wreath of flowers was placed at the Hollywood Walk of Fame star of actor Kirk Douglas, who died Wednesday (5 FEBRUARY 2020) at age 103, according to family members in a story first reported by People magazine.
Douglas, who starred in "Spartacus," "Lust for Life" and dozens of other films, helped fatally weaken the blacklist against suspected Communists and reigned for decades as a Hollywood maverick and patriarch.
"You know, people across generations still watch his movies," said entertainment reporter Jeanne Wolf. "He did make some of the great movies. And he just was bigger than life. He was handsome and daring and he could be evil and he could be loving, and anything you ever wanted an actor to be. He's was Hollywood's leading man. I think we all feel like he was a part of this community, right up till the end."
Douglas earned three Academy Award nominations, but never won a competitive Oscar. He did, however, receive an honorary statuette from The Academy in 1996. Douglas was honored with his Hollywood Walk of Fame star in February 1980.
